My in-laws are Irish and celebrate St. Patrick’s day every year as a family. Our newest member has joined us and we cannot wait to see her in the Aran dress. It is absolutely everything we hoped it would be, soft, well made and beautiful!

This amazing novel offers a glimpse into the reasons and provokes thoughts that may lead to the solution. Profound ideas are presented in the form of a simple story told with great imagery and pace. It is the story of a journey, but also of a transformation along the way, during which truth is revealed, and characters undergo change. As with all art, each reader will decide what this story means to them. For me, it spoke to how much we need community and connection to God. The world, in its current state, mocks both of these as "ridiculous". People who honor these are demeaned, while those who focus on self and worldly pursuits (power, pleasure, wealth, honor) are praised. Are we being conformed to the world and these conclusions? Or do we have the courage to follow the voice of our conscience which leads us in the direction of good, in spite of the world's present state? Our happiness depends on this choice, and this wonderful book encourages us to choose well.

This amazing book describes a time and a place so well, you feel you are there amongst the characters. A family story of love, loss, joy, pain and hope. At times, I was reminded of the opening scenes of Trinity, with the vivid descriptions of Irish families and living conditions in Donegal in the late 1800s. However, this book is more than just history and more than just a memoir. It tells of the importance of family and connection; to loved ones, to traditions, to Ireland, and to the enduring importance of heritage. We should all be so lucky to have such a detailed account of our ancestors' lives. With great admiration for the people who lived through these tales, I encourage all who are seeking greater connection (to their own families, to traditions, to heritage) to read this wonderful book.

This amazing short novel was so fun to read. It keeps you engaged completely, and moves at a fast pace, back and forth in time. I learned a great deal about Michael Collins and his times, but I also loved the intriguing way the story unfolds between past and present. A great ending, too!
